Alex Schadenberg – The Art of Human Connection

Alex Schadenberg, founder and executive director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition of Canada, is quite simply the gold standard when it comes to understanding the importance of human connection. Through his decades long ministry supporting and defending the marginalized nearing the end of their earthly lives, Alex has learned that while technology and an online presence can be a catalyst for informing the public on necessary action items and vital information in the fight for life, it can never replace face to face human connection. Relationships are the foundation of change, and Alex has come to not only know but also practice better than most the profound impact personal connection and the investment of one’s time can have in changing the hearts of even the most hardened.
In today’s episode, PLG podcast host Cam sits down with Alex to talk about his journey in the greater pro-life movement, his incredible ministry working with and supporting those nearing the ends of their natural lives on earth, and the lessons he’s learned pertaining to the importance of human connection.
This was an absolutely incredible episode involving one of the giants in the global fight for life, and if you’d like to learn more about Alex’s work at the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition of Canada you can go to his website at https://epcc.ca/

Keturah Dumaine – CCBR’s Newest Speaker

Keturah Dumaine growth as a speaker has been astronomical over the last year. I (Cam) first heard Keturah present in March of 2023 as someone who was relatively new to the realm of public speaking, yet even at that time it was clear that she had what was necessary to be an incredibly engaging and empowering speaker. She spoke with conviction and eloquence, drawing tears from CCBR’s speaker development panel, while clearly and concisely conveying the simple principles of the pro-life worldview.
As one of the core speakers of CCBR’s summer Faces of Abortion tour which traveled across eastern Canada, Keturah launched herself onto the national stage for pro-life speakers, and in today’s episode, Cam sits down with her to talk about her journey, both literally across Canada this summer and metaphorically in becoming a high profile speaker now hotly sought after.
Keturah shares her favourite moments of the tour, including doing outreach with staff and interns in all of the Atlantic provinces, stories of some of the incredible local volunteers and leads she met along her travels, and how her experience has been adding public speaking to her already impressive skill set.

Ben Shapiro is Coming to Calgary

Ben Shapiro is coming to Calgary on Thursday, November 16th, 2023 and here’s where you can get your tickets: www.benshapirolive.ca
Ben Shapiro is without a doubt the most recognizable name (and voice!) within the global conservative commentator movement, and in our opinion, that is generally for very good reason. His unabashed challenging of woke culture, both through is work with the Daily Wire with The Ben Shapiro Show and elsewhere across the web, has invigorated and empowered conservatives everywhere to be confident in their worldview. With the profile and demand that he holds, it is hard to believe that he’s coming all the way up to Calgary to present to thousands of Canadians on his signature topic, “Defeating Wokism” including opening the floor to questions and engagement, but that’s exactly what’s happening. Ben Shapiro is coming to Canada.
In today’s episode, host Cam is joined by Stephanie Fennelly, Executive Director of The Wilberforce Project, about everything you need to know about how to get tickets, what to expect, and everything else you need to know about Ben Shapiro coming to Canada. As both the hosting organization as well as Alberta’s pro-life political group working to nominate, elect, and lobby politicians to protect babies, mothers, and families from abortion, The Wilberforce Project is uniquely situated not only to facilitate this high profile event, but also to mobilize attendees for effective political action.

Here’s How to Change More Minds on Abortion

Last episode, Cam talked through CCBR’s road map for progressing through pro-abortion arguments with empathy, clarity, and consistency, and this week he demonstrates how this road map can be applied to three different types of arguments, including:
1) Mother-focused arguments such as when a mother is a victim of sexual assault.
2) Child-focused arguments such as when a child is diagnosed prenatally with a disability.
3) Principle-focused arguments such as bodily autonomy.

Back to Basics – The Road Map for Changing Minds

Do you ever feel lost in your conversations about abortion? Do you feel at times as though you are using different arguments almost at random in hopes that they might resonate with the person you are speaking with?
In today’s episode, host Cam talks through a roadmap which can help you understand where you are at when you are speaking with someone about abortion, and where you should be moving next in your conversation, so that you have both a natural flow, but also so that your arguments flow logically, building on each other so that you can change minds and save lives from abortion.

High Schoolers Changing Minds (Part 2)!

While post-secondary aged women and men from across Canada continue to be CCBR’s primary demographic for filling our summer internships, there has been growing interest among high schoolers for programing geared towards a younger demographic, giving them a voice in the fight for life on Canadian streets and door steps.
To respond to this interest, CCBR has recently expanded it’s programing from offering a single high school-oriented program in Toronto during the March break to now offering programs in Winnipeg and Calgary, and in today’s episode host Cam is joined not only by Quiana Casamayor, coordinator for CCBR’s Calgary High School Bootcamp, but also a number of boot camp participants to talk all about this incredible week!

Texas Comes North – An American’s Experience with CCBR

Different pro-life organizations approach pro-life outreach with different strategies and tactics as they work to engage members of the public with the truth about abortion and value of human life.
For this episode, host Cam is joined by Gavin, a regular volunteer for several pro-life organizations in the state of Texas, to talk about his experience doing pro-life outreach with CCBR’s staff, interns, and volunteers on the streets of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Parliament Votes to Ignore Babies When Pregnant Mothers are Attacked

Canadian pro-lifers have unfortunately become accustomed to even the most basic pro-life bills being voted down in Parliament, including bills which would simply evaluate the scientific evidence for when human life begins, or bills which would restrict abortion when the only reason is that the baby is a girl.
In today’s episode, Cam is joined again by Scott Hayward, President of Right Now, to discuss MP Cathay Wagantall’s recent bill C-311, entitled, “Violence Against Pregnant Women Act”, and what pro-lifers need to take away from the debate and progress which was made.

Just Fix the Problems and Abortion Goes Away…Right???

Pro-life activists are often confronted on street corners and door-steps with questions about why we don’t start by fixing social problems such as foster care, teen pregnancies, and legal challenges parents are faced with, rather than focusing on preventing abortions.
While this approach makes sense at the surface level, in today’s episode, Cam talks through a number of reasons why this is not only unrealistic, but also inherently flawed thinking.
YES, pro-lifers absolutely need to put their money where their mouths are, leading the charge in resolving the challenging circumstances so many parents around the world are faced with. Yet just like in every other social crisis, it will necessarily require a massive overhaul in public opinion for the solutions to ever match the need. Enter proactive social engagement through the educational arm of the pro-life movement.
Education is vital, not only in awakening and mobilizing pro-lifers to contribute towards the solutions necessary to address the wide array of problems parents are faced with, but even more importantly to demonstrate to those who suggest abortion, the direct and intentional killing of an innocent girl or boy, that we must begin investing our time, treasure, and talent in solutions which avoid the intentional destruction of human life. Finally, and most importantly, we must reach mothers and fathers contemplating abortion with the truth that abortion kills an innocent human, and that we are far from having perfect solutions in place, we must approach these crisis’ in the same way that we approach crisis’ involving born children, with the best we can possibly offer; not by killing the child involved.
